TO THE EDITOR:
Given the current situation with the Carolina football program, it is important for the Carolina community to recognize those athletes that value the opportunities they have been given. We have so many outstanding athletes in our programs who work hard and are proud to be Tar Heels. They should be praised.
Unfortunately, some of the UNC football players have chosen to be selfish and tarnish the UNC name. To these players, I say grow up. You are at one of the best universities in the world, and you couldn’t follow simple rules. Now, because of your immaturity and selfishness, UNC is getting bad press, not praise. The students have stood behind you and welcomed you, only to be disappointed.
Even more unfortunate is the fact that your teammates are suffering the most. They have followed the rules and worked very hard but now will only be remembered for your mistakes. You might only think about yourselves, but you represent this University and the students that go here. I want to say thank you to the UNC football players and athletes that represent our university exceptionally. You deserve praise for remembering that you are student athletes, not professional athletes.
