Company Carolina, a student-run campus theater group, canceled its planned production of the musical “Once On This Island,” according to the group’s website.
The musical, based on a modern setting of a Caribbean folktale, was due to open this evening.
The website lists the loss of a lead cast member and the music director as the reason for the cancellation.
Company Carolina’s last planned musical, a spring 2010 production of “Cats,” was canceled a few days before its opening.
Company Carolina producers, cast members and communications directors did not return calls or e-mails requesting comment.
