Police log for October 29, 2010

—Someone pried open the window of a residence between 8:01 a.m. and 10:02 p.m. Wednesday at 108 Kirkwood Drive, according to Chapel Hill police reports. The person stole an Apple iPad worth $700 and a Toshiba laptop worth $350. Damage to the front window was valued at $100, reports state.

—Someone attempted to steal a kitchen knife worth $7.95 around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday from the Kitchenworks at 201 S. Estes Drive, according to Chapel Hill police reports.

—A 24-year-old Norwich man was arrested for trying to pass a forged check and possession of stolen goods at 1:41 p.m. Wednesday at the RBC Bank at 841 Willow Drive, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Derek Wilczewski was taken to the Orange County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond.

—Someone stole five checks worth $1,500 between 7:45 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at 515 North St., according to Chapel Hill police reports.

—Someone stole a $1,802.66 laptop from a classroom in Chapel Hill High School between 3 p.m. June 10 and 8 a.m. Aug. 20, according to Chapel Hill police reports.
