Carolina graduates are expected to return in droves for the William and Mary football game Oct. 30. However, alumni are not coming home just for a football game.
The General Alumni Association is hosting an Alumni Milestone Mixer at Top of the Hill’s new Back Bar on Oct. 29 from 8 to 10 p.m.
Laura Sheppard, coordinator of Homecoming and Affinity reunions, said that the General Alumni Association created the Milestone Mixer this year to encourage alumni to return for Homecoming.
She said that the General Alumni Association chose Top of the Hill because many graduates have fond memories of going to the restaurant and would be interested to see the new addition.
“Alumni are always coming back to campus and they want to see their old stomping grounds,” said Sheppard. “But they also want to see what’s new and what’s changed. The new part of Top of the Hill offers a great event space for a gathering.”
Hallie Semmoms, Top of the Hill’s event coordinator, said that the restaurant’s new bar will provide a nice venue to mingle.
“They’re going to see people they’re not even expecting,” Semmoms said. “It’s going to be a great event to get everybody ready to go and ready for Homecoming weekend.”
Alumni who attend the event can socialize with fellow graduates, listen to live music by DJ A-Minor and order from a wide selection of drinks, including specialty cocktails at the cash bar. Semmoms said that alumni can even ask for a piece of chalk to write about their Carolina experience on the restaurant’s walls.
On Saturday, Oct. 30, alumni can continue dine together at the annual Bell Tower tailgate at noon. Carolina Barbeque of Garner will cater the event which is open to all alumni.
