North Carolina leads Barton College at halftime in the Tar Heels opening exhibition game. Tyler Zeller leads all UNC scorers with 14 points. The Tar Heels got off to a slow start early on, but used a flurry of fast-break points and stifling defense to jump out to a convincing half-time lead.
All three freshman have seen substantial time in the game, especially Kendall Marshall, who came in after starting point guard Larry Drew picked up his third foul early on. Other notable performances for the Tar Heels have come from sophomore shooting guard Leslie McDonald, nine points, and John Henson, seven points.
A significant size advantage in the paint has played to North Carolina’s advantage as well. Check later for our post game wrap.
