North Carolina will face Tennessee in the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl on December 30 in Nashville, Tenn.
The Tar Heels (7-5) and the Volunteers (6-6) haven’t met on the gridiron since 1961.
The bowl game is the third straight bowl appearance for UNC and the third in four seasons for UNC coach Butch Davis. The three straight bowls mark the longest streak since UNC went to seven straight bowls from 1992-98.
North Carolina lost its last two bowl games, first to West Virginia and then to Pittsburgh last season. A win will move UNC to 8-5 on the season, the same record the team has recorded in its last two seasons.
