TO THE EDITOR:
It is disconcerting to see our basketball players, and for that matter, other teams’ basketball players, who do not put their hands across their chest when “The Star-Spangled Banner” is played prior to game time. I counted the other night and only five players, all lower subs, did that on the UNC team.
I know it is a personal thing, but these young athletes are getting a free education thanks to this nation’s beliefs, and they should respect this country’s national anthem.
