TO THE EDITOR:

Krysta Workman’s letter “Ingram’s behavior before runoff was unprofessional” (Feb. 28) is a product of the DTH’s biased coverage of Rick during the campaign. The “full-on smear campaign” during this election was against Rick Ingram, not Ian Lee, by both the DTH and the Board of Elections.

After watching close friends’ reputations sullied over a period of four months by the same institutions that are supposed to uphold the integrity of the election process, I now see Mary’s victory as a vindication for Rick and for the Student Code. Even if many students didn’t like Rick’s methods, they saw through Ian, who never should have been allowed to run. Maybe now Ian will realize the rules do apply to him and future BOE members will not abdicate their duties.

Most of the student body will never know the Rick I know having worked with him on the campaign for more than a year now. Sadder still is that even after the election, the DTH can’t pass up the opportunity to get in another dig at Rick, even if it’s at the hands of another student misinformed by unethical journalism that would make the editors of tabloid rags blush.
