Margaret Cheatham Williams and Arkasha Stevenson placed first and second in the 51st annual Hearst Awards multimedia competition’s features category.
Their work was chosen out of 68 entries coming from 40 schools for the Hearst Awards, national prizes known as the Pulitzers of collegiate journalism.
Williams, who placed first with her entry “Goodnight Moon,” will receive a $2,600 scholarship. Stevenson will receive a $2,000 scholarship for her second-place finish.
UNC ranks first in accumulated student points in the Hearst Intercollegiate Multimedia Competition. Final ranks will be announced after the second multimedia competition in May.
