CHARLOTTE – The North Carolina men’s basketball team is trailing 45-44 at halftime of their third-round matchup against the Washington Huskies at the Time Warner Cable Arena.

The Tar Heels struggled out of the gate, falling behind by as many as 11 to the Huskies before storming back.

UNC has been paced by Harrison Barnes, who has scored 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting.

The Tar Heels initially struggled with Washington’s pressure man-to-man defense, but seemed to settle down in the later stages of the first half.

For the half, the Tar Heels have four turnovers and seven assists.

And UW has a surprising 24-20 rebounding edge against the Tar Heels, who have been a strong rebounding team all season.

The Huskies have run into a little foul trouble, amassing 11 team fouls. Center Aziz N’Diaye has three personals, while Venoy Overton, Matt Bryan-Amaning and Darnell Gant all have two of their own.
