North Carolina defensive lineman Jared McAdoo has been dismissed from the football program for violating team rules, coach Butch Davis announced in a press release Monday.
McAdoo played in 12 games during the 2010 season as a redshirt freshman.
McAdoo has received criminal charges in the past. In June 2008, the then-senior at Chapel Hill High was arrested for selling Percocets. On June 20, 2010, McAdoo was arrested for a misdemeanor weapons charge after bringing a BB gun onto campus. The charge was later dropped.
In addition to McAdoo’s dismissal, Davis announced that linebacker Herman Davidson and defensive back Brendon Felder will transfer from North Carolina.
“Brendon’s family is going through some tough times,” Davis said in the press release. “His grandmother is sick and he wanted to be closer to the family for support. I wish nothing but the best for Brendon and his family as they deal with this situation.”
The Tar Heels will also play without linebacker Shane Mularkey, who has decided to stop playing football. The sophomore only played in two games last season due to season-ending shoulder surgery.
