It appears that large numbers of Tuesday’s DTH newspapers were removed from their racks just after they were delivered in the wee hours of the morning for reasons other than someone’s personal daily enjoyment of the paper. A similar incident may have also occurred on Monday.
At least 10 on-campus news racks holding about 1,000 copies were positively identified as having the papers emptied prior to 6:30 a.m., and probably more were targeted.
If anyone witnessed suspicious activity around the racks — such as anyone unloading large quantities of papers — please let us know at dth@dailytarheel.com or by calling 962-0252.
Removing a large number of free newspapers in this manner is a theft and is against the law. The DTH has successfully recovered damages from perpetrators of similar incidents in the past and will pursue all means of law enforcement in order to recover the value of its property.
