The University announced Thursday that Eunice Sahle, an African and Afro-American Studies and global studies professor, will become chairwoman of the African and Afro-American Studies department Jan. 1.
The announcement comes amid an investigation into the department following the resignation of its chairman, Julius Nyang’oro, at the beginning of September. Nyang’oro remains a professor in the department.
Sahle has been at the University since 2001, according to a UNC press release.
