The Daily Tar Heel

TO THE EDITOR:

I want to add to the editorial about towing. I think it is ridiculous that towing is allowed for areas outside of downtown Chapel Hill and on campus where areas are not high volume in terms of customer needs or high traffic.

Some years back, I parked my car at a small shopping center to catch the bus to go to campus for my temporary job. Mind you, this shopping center does not get enough business to fill its lot and it is not in a busy area. When I returned that afternoon, my car had been towed.
It cost me $150 in cash to get my car back. The tow service towed it all the way to Highway 54 west of Carrboro.

I understand towing in a busy area where parking is not available. But outside of the main part of campus is just not fair. Especially when, as your editorial stated, spaces to park downtown or near campus are rare.
