A woman told police that she was forced behind a dumpster and raped in an alley at 101 S. Columbia St. at about 2:15 a.m. Thursday, according to Chapel Hill police reports.

The incident occurred during the hours that followed UNC’s basketball game against Duke University Wednesday night.

According to UNC Department of Public Safety reports, the woman then came into Cosmic Cantina and was in need of medical assistance.

“According to the testimony, it happened on a part of campus very proximal to Franklin Street,” said Randy Young. Young said that Chapel Hill police are the primary investigators on the case, so he had limited details on what happened.

Young said he believed that police had little information about the incident and the investigation was ongoing. Chapel Hill police could not be reached for comment Friday afternoon.

Chapel Hill police reports state that a purse and Apple iPhone were stolen during the incident.
