The report, born out of graduate research at UNC, tracks progress in Chapel Hill and Carrboro based on several different indicators — including social, economic and environmental factors.
According to the report, Orange County ranks in the top 5 percent of North Carolina counties based on health factors.
Orange County per capita income is the highest in the state, and unemployment is among the lowest. But a large disparity in wealth exists, and the county has seen increases in the number of children in poverty and food stamp recipients.
