A proposal to implement a gender-neutral housing option on campus was passed unanimously by the full Board of Trustees this morning.
With this approval, Chancellor Holden Thorp said he and and Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Winston Crisp will begin the implementation process immediately.
The option will likely be available for students living on campus beginning next fall, said Terri Phoenix, director of the LGBTQ Center, who has worked closely with students on the proposal.
Another proposal presented to the trustees this morning — one that will raise tuition for nonresident undergraduate students and all graduate students next year — was also passed unanimously.
Tuition for in-state graduate students will increase by about 6.5 percent, or $509, while tuition for out-of-state undergraduates and graduates will increase by $1,630.
A $600 increase for in-state undergraduate students has already been approved.
