Christy Lambden was elected student body president Tuesday night, winning 55 percent of the votes in defeating Will Lindsey in a runoff.
The candidates had another week to campaign for the runoff election because neither collected a majority of the votes in the general election last week.
Lambden had the most endorsements from student organizations out of the five candidates. He collected 22 percent of the vote in the general election. Lindsey had 37 percent of the vote in the general election.
Lindsey had collected the most petition signatures of the five candidates.
This year, 5,691 students voted in the general election, and turnout in the runoff is still unknown.
This year’s election spanned 29 days, one day longer than last year’s election. Both featured runoff elections.
