North Carolina tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator Walt Bell will join Arkansas State’s coaching staff as offensive coordinator, Bell announced Monday via Twitter.
Bell, along with UNC football graduate assistant Luke Paschall, will join the staff of new Red Wolves head coach Blake Anderson, who left his position as UNC offensive coordinator two weeks ago.
Paschall will coach wide receivers and special teams on Anderson’s staff.
UNC coach Larry Fedora had reportedly offered Bell co-offensive coordinator at UNC, but Fedora said after Saturday’s Belk Bowl that a decision regarding the position was still pending.
Bell declined to comment on speculation of his departure prior to Saturday’s bowl game.
“The most important thing to me is that we play well on Saturday,” Bell said Dec. 24. “Obviously, I’m unbelievably blessed to have as many opportunities as I’ve got. But the most important thing to me right now is that we play well and that we move the ball on Saturday.”
