Pedestrian struck at intersection of Franklin and Columbia streets

A pedestrian sustained minor injuries after being hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Franklin and Columbia streets late Saturday night.

The woman did not have the right of way and walked against the crosswalk signal, said Chapel Hill Police Department investigator Sgt. Preston Oppegard.

Her injuries were minor, and she was transported to UNC Hospitals as a precaution, he said.

The incident is still under investigation and charges may be filed, Oppegard said.
