A cyclist was hit by a car at the intersection of South Columbia Street and Franklin Street on Tuesday, according to a release sent by Chapel Hill Police today.
The cyclist, Kayley Marie Lyons of Chapel Hill, was traveling northbound on South Columbia, and the driver, Michael Harold Ranes of Kittrell, was turning right onto East Franklin at the time. Ranes has been charged with unsafe movement and reckless driving, according to the release.
Lyons was transported to UNC Hospitals with serious, non-life threatening injuries.
