Four times the North Carolina field hockey team has played on the road this season. Four times the Tar Heels have come away victorious.
No. 2 UNC took a four-day trip this weekend with games against Princeton on Friday and against Drexel on Sunday. The Tar Heels won both contests 5-2 and 3-0, respectively.
In the first half against Princeton, UNC played its highest-scoring half of the season. The Tar Heels held a 4-0 lead at halftime thanks to two goals from senior Casey Di Nardo and a goal apiece from senior Emily Wold and sophomore Gab Major.
But Princeton outscored UNC 2-1 in the second half, preventing a shutout victory. Even though they shut out the Tigers for almost 62 minutes, the Tar Heels identified closing out games as an area they need to improve.
UNC responded against Drexel on Sunday. The Tar Heels came out firing and shut out the Dragons 3-0 behind goals from Wold, Major and freshman Malin Evert.
The 3-0 win marked the Tar Heels' first shutout of 2015, and 21 different players saw playing time. The two wins moved UNC's record to 4-0 on the young season.
