TO THE EDITOR:
There’s a common maxim that claims that history repeats itself.
I think it’s important to add to this saying, however, that history’s successes only repeat themselves if history’s successors do not repeat past mistakes.
This sounds obvious, and yet the “no justice, no peace” chant and the subsequent violence of the protestors at the most recent Board of Governors meeting both show a blatant disregard for the peaceful tactics of history’s most successful protests.
This brings me to question whether these and other current protestors are truly prioritizing the success of their cause, or if they are instead seeking some sort of personal fulfillment at the expense of justice. No peace? No progress.
