TO THE EDITOR:
Chiraayu Gosrani’s column Wednesday stated that Bradley Opere is “the University’s first international student body president.” This is plain false, and you only have to go back to 2013 to disprove it.
He also strongly implied that Bradley is our first black SBP by comparing his election to that of Obama, and by exclaiming that “a black man was student body president at last.”
In reality, Bradley is our eighth black SBP.
By all means celebrate the election of a black student body president, but let’s not pretend that this is an extraordinary occurrence, and let’s certainly not erase the experiences and accomplishments of the many black student body presidents that have served.
