TO THE EDITOR
If you’re like me, you probably found Jacob Olliffe’s letter to the editor on Feb. 21 really hard to understand. So here’s a translation:
“Let’s ignore the fact that Jalynn Harris’ article is written neither about me nor for me. Instead of trying hard to understand this black woman’s message, let me complain that she didn’t dumb down her language. But I should make sure to make my point by using really flowery language so people know I’m not whining that she’s smarter than me!”
Frankly, his letter failed to recognize that we don’t have the capability to understand the words he uses like “esoteric.” What are we, college students?
