ACC Football Championship Game moved to Orlando

The Atlantic Coast Conference Football Championship Game has been moved to Orlando, the ACC announced in a statement Thursday.

The game will take place at Camping World Stadium, which hosts the Citrus Bowl and the Orlando City Soccer Club.

The move comes after the ACC announced on Sept. 14 it would move all neutral-site championships out of North Carolina because of HB2.

That announcement came two days after the NCAA moved its neutral-site championship events out of North Carolina over HB2.

The championship game returns to Florida for the first time in six seasons, when Tampa played host to the conference title in 2008 and 2009. The game was played in Jacksonville from 2005-07 before moving to Charlotte in 2010.

The Tar Heels last played in Orlando nine months ago, when Baylor ran away with a 49-38 win in the 2015 Russell Athletic Bowl.

This year's conference title game is still scheduled for Dec. 3, and kickoff time will be 7:45 or 8 p.m.

People who purchased tickets for the game in Charlotte will receive a refund and be eligible for a three-day pre-sale starting Oct. 5. Tickets for the game will open to the public on Oct. 10.
