Letter: Student Government hosting policing event

TO THE EDITOR:

In light of police brutality against people of color, attacks on police officers and attacks on the LGBTQ community this summer, we seek to create an atmosphere of connectedness among students, safety officers and UNC administration.

The Multicultural Affairs and Diversity Outreach Committee invites you to join Chancellor Folt, UNC administrators and local officers from the Chapel Hill Police Department for a panel discussion on police brutality and campus safety in the Great Hall of the Student Union Tuesday (9/6) night from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The panel will open with student moderators presenting questions submitted by student groups across campus.

The floor will then be opened for questions from those in attendance.

We strongly encourage all students and members of the community to come out on Tuesday night from 6 p.m. through 7:30 p.m. to foster a meaningful dialogue among police officers and all community members.
