Word on the Street: What did you do for Thanksgiving?
Thanksgiving break has just come to an end and students are back in classrooms, eagerly awaiting exams. Staff writer Harris Wheless asked students: What did you do for Thanksgiving?

“I ate Thanksgiving dinner with my friend who lives in Carrboro. I had to stay in Chapel Hill, unfortunately, because of work. I work at a grocery store in the meat department so there was high demand because of turkey day. But I got off work around three and was picked up by my friend and ate with his parents and grandmother and it was a very nice meal and there was a lot of good conversation. So it worked out pretty well even though I didn’t get to see my folks.”

“I went home to see my family and that was fun and we ate turkey and cranberry sauce and it was pretty damn fabulous and I saw my dog and that was great.”

“We made a big dinner, I met my pregnant cousin so there was some family drama there, I went to some of my favorite restaurants, I saw a kid from my Shakespeare recitation in the restaurant, and we made eye contact but said nothing. And then I got back yesterday and campus was completely dead, which was really amazing. I love when nobody’s here. And I got to hang out in my room and paint and watch the Gilmore Girls revival, so all-in-all a very good break.”

“I went home to Pilot Mountain, North Carolina, I got a haircut, played some football with some friends, watched the dog show and the parade and I went hunting with my father and that was about it. Oh, and I ate at my grandparents. We had a lot of food. My favorite’s the cranberry sauce.”

“OK. We’re live now. Hello, Daily Tar Heel readers. How are you? I did not travel for Thanksgiving because I am from Carrboro. So I went back to my parents’ house and had dinner with my parents and grandparents. Thanksgiving is usually not a big thing in my household. Christmas is a bigger family gathering so we didn’t really do much for Thanksgiving, but the food was good, the atmosphere was adequate, the company could have been better, but that’s fine.”

“Thanksgiving was really interesting. I came home after not having been home in a quarter of a year. I had a large influx of memory coming back from kindergarten into the past year. I mostly spent my time with my friend Blake and his family. I had a meal with him and his family and then he came over to visit with me and my family, as is tradition. We also do Christmas the same way, because I think we both like each other’s families more than we like our own. We had turkey and some stuff that my grandmother put together. There were several different options of gravy. Yeah, that’s about it.”
