Calavera Empanada & Tequila Bar’s location in Carrboro has changed its name to Esperanza.
Esperanza’s owner, Scott Kleczkowski, said that the name is changing due to a split in ownership between the restaurant in Carrboro and the Calavera location in Raleigh.
Kleczkowski said that nothing in the Carrboro restaurant, aside from the name, will change. However, there have always been differences in menu options between the Carrboro and Raleigh locations, so they have never been exactly the same restaurant.
“People would come to the Calavera location in Raleigh looking for things only served in the Carrboro location and come to the one in Carrboro looking for things only served at the one in Raleigh,” he said.
Kleczkowski said it has taken about eight to nine months to officially change the name.
“It’s been in the process, and it’s taken a while to hammer down the logo and the name,” he said.
Esperanza’s new sign is set to officially go up on Wednesday.
