UNC Student Supreme Court rejects appeal

The UNC Student Supreme Court rejected an appeal, saying the plaintiff, sophomore Will Hopping, did not provide enough evidence to show the UNC Board of Elections acted with bias.

In the appeal, Hopping alleged the board did not give a fair hearing and requested a rehearing for both Hopping v. Grier and Muriuki v. Adkins — and that Paul Kushner, chairperson of the UNC Board of Elections, and Luke Cullifer, the student solicitor general, be removed from office.

The rejection from the Student Supreme Court said they do not have the capabilities to remove Cullifer from office, but Student Congress does.

The rejection also said it is in the board's power to provide procedural guidance to candidates, therefore Kushner was not acting outside of his authority.
