YouthWorx on Main in Carrboro recently held its groundbreaking ceremony on April 11.
“YouthWorx is a co-working, collaborative space for nonprofit organizations that serve youth in Orange County and the Triangle,” said Barbara Jessie-Black, executive director of the PTA Thrift Shop in Carrboro.
The groundbreaking ceremony included a ribbon cutting and was attended by about 30 people, including Carrboro Mayor Lydia Lavelle and a few Board of Aldermen members, Jessie-Black said.
YouthWorx is comprised of two parts, Jessie-Black said. The first is tenant based — four or five organizations are housed in the office itself.
The second component is for nonprofits who already reside somewhere else but would still like to be a part of the collaborative programs.
Jessie-Black said their goal is to have the building open by May 1, as there is still some exterior site work to complete.
