TO THE EDITOR:
To all graduates,
You studied the texts; you examined the material; you performed projects.
And now you have achieved a goal. You have become an “expert.”
You have the reliability in your responses that many do not ascribe to anyone else. You have their trust; you have their confidence. They believe what you say. Even if it’s just so much manure.
You can charge a huge fee to sit in court and say that, in your “expert” opinion, substandard bolts did not contribute to the collapse of the parking garage. You can “testify” in accident cases that, in your “expert” opinion, it is impossible to say that pulverized leg bones were not a “pre-existing condition!” You can say that, in your “expert” opinion, there’s no danger to genetically engineered food.
Opportunities can be everywhere. You can decide which way you want to go.
