It’s spring in Chapel Hill, which means three things: Every surface is covered in pollen, the Quad is always full of people and it’s becoming increasingly impossible to find somewhere to sit in the libraries because of finals.

The Carolina Inn is now offering a solution, which they're calling "The Ultimate UNC Chapel Hill Exam Week Package."

According to the inn’s website, this package is meant “to help alleviate the stress exam week brings by offering quiet and comfortable accommodations where your student can study and rest" and is available between April 30 and May 9 for rates starting at $199.

Students can choose from five different packages: The Health Nut, The Caffeinator, The Food Junkie, The Aristocrat and The Sweet Tooth.

“We wanted to offer a variety,” said Michelle Voelpel, the Carolina Inn’s director of marketing and PR. “There’s something for everyone.”

This is the first year the Carolina Inn is offering this to students, and in addition to providing snacks, Voelpel said the Inn wanted to provide students with a more relaxing environment.

“Instead of on-campus and off-campus housing, we wanted to provide a more restful place to sleep,” Voelpel said.

But the $199 price tag is a deterrent for some students.

“As a college student, that’s extremely expensive,” Jose Sampson, a first-year pre-business major, said. “If it were $50, yeah. But $200? No way.”

Madison Walters, a first-year strategic communication major, said she felt the same way.

“You can just buy snacks and hide out at the library,” Walters said.

Walters also said she would rather stay at The Carolina Inn during a time when she could actually relax.

“I don’t want to be there, cramming for my exams,” Walters said. “I would want to go when I can enjoy it.”
