Chancellor Carol Folt sent an email to the Carolina Community around 11 a.m. announcing that Jim Dean, executive vice chancellor and provost, is stepping down after 4 years in his position.
"Please join me in thanking Jim for his unwavering and tireless leadership at the University," Folt said.
The announcement also said Dean will be replaced by Robert Blouin, the dean of the Eshelman School of Pharmacy. The email says Blouin was approved by the Board of Trustees and will take effect on Sept. 18.
"One of our core pillars is 'Innovation made Fundamental,' and I am confident that Dean Blouin will play a key role in leading our efforts across the University," Folt said.
