With fall break looming, UNC hosted Carolina Family Weekend 2017 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Families on campus enjoyed the UNC vs. Virginia football game, a family barbecue and many other activities.

Staff writer Mark Burnett asked parents about their favorite part of visiting Chapel Hill.

George and Kitty Tilghman, parents of Henry Tilghman

“We’re excited about seeing the football game tomorrow and the campus. I love the historic campus, and I’m glad to see that the statue of the Silent Sam is where it was before and that it hasn’t been removed,” George Tilghman said.

Elaine Lickteig, mother of John Lickteig

“Seeing my son – just walking the campus,” Elaine Lickteig said.

Dennis and Toni Carroll, parents of Nicole Carroll

“Seeing my daughter, no, it’s just a great campus, it’s beautiful — it’s nice to be on campus,” Toni Carroll said.
