Word on the Street: What are you look forward to most during the holidays?

During finals week, it seems winter break is on every student's mind. Staff writer Ramishah Maruf asked students what they were most looking forward to in the holidays, and got answers that ranged from shared family traditions to plans to relax.

Maggie Stein

First-year biology major

"I just love Christmas music, the feeling of Christmas and the feeling in the air. I love spending time with family, especially baking cookies with my sister. It started with my godmother when we were really young, and we would bake cookies and decorate them with ice cream, and when we became older we learned to do it by ourselves and turned it into our own tradition."

 Kayla Morrison

First-year communications major

"My favorite part about Christmas is that every year since my sister went off to college, we have had fondue every year for Christmas dinner. Her boyfriend would come with her, and when we got older it became our tradition because she wouldn’t always be around. Now she’s married and she’s a nurse so she’s not always around either. "

 Gardner Davis

Sophomore Chinese and communications major

"I like how relaxed it is. I have fewer responsibilities, and I can just focus on me."

 Sam Chao

 Senior biology major

"I like seeing Christmas decorations and seeing them hung up everywhere, like being together with family and putting up the tree and stockings."

Paige Watts

First-year art history major

"I love giving my dog presents. Usually we give her a collar. I’m just obsessed with her; she has a stocking I made for her."

Ty Crawford

 First- year computer science major

"I love not working on school work and the lack of stress. The holidays just give off a vibe of relaxation."
