Word on the Street: What is on your walking to class playlist?
Odds are if you're walking to class, you're listening to music (or you at least see someone else listening to something through their headphones). Do you ever wonder what everyone around you is listening to? Here are some students' favorite things to listen to on their treks to class.
Staff writer Allie Todd asked UNC students, "What is on your walking-to-class playlist?"
Senior Jake Cochran
Biology and music major
“My playlist changes with the day. It ranges from lo-fi hip-hop to bluegrass to 90s rock.”
First-Year Molly Dwyer
Journalism major
“I don’t usually listen to music walking to class. In the morning I like to be present where I am and get my head in the right space for class.”
Junior Seth Davis
Exercise and sports science major

“My playlist is a lot of Post Malone or Biggie Smalls.”
First-Year Sydney Schamay
Computer science major
“I usually listen to podcasts on my way to class because I need something long to keep me entertained from my walk from HoJo. Recently I’ve liked the podcast 'Happier' by Gretchen Rubin.”
Sophomore Hayes Dunlevy
Music performance major
“My playlist is mostly 90s music, and some Gambino for sure.”
First-Year Anna Elsasser
Journalism major
“Usually EDM music like Odesza or Flume, something upbeat or dance music.”
So next time you’re walking to class, ask the person you’re walking beside what is streaming through their headphones and maybe you’ll make a new friend!
