A female University student was hit by a car while riding her moped outside Top of the Hill Restaurant & Brewery's Back Bar on S. Columbia Street Monday around 1:45 p.m.
A silver Honda Accord struck the 19-year-old woman. A middle-aged male was driving the car with a female, middle-aged passenger. The car had a Massachusetts license plate. The driver and passenger were cooperating with the Chapel Hill Police Department and the Department of Public Safety officers on the scene.
The student was placed in a neck brace and on a stretcher by first responders and taken to UNC Hospitals in an ambulance that departed at 1:56 p.m.
Her injuries have been reported as non-life threatening, by the Chapel Hill Police Department.
The police are unable to disclose any additional information about the student at this time.
Randy Young, spokesperson for DPS, said that some DPS officers were on the scene but the official investigation is being handled by CHPD.
