Police Reports: July 11-17

  • A phone scam was reported on the 200 block of Mill Race Drive on July 11, 2018 at 7:00 p.m., according to Chapel Hill Police reports.

The suspect pretended to be Apple on the phone.

  • Trespassing was reported on July 12, 2018 at 6:51 p.m. on the 2000 block of Homestead Road, according to Chapel Hill Police reports. 

The suspect was found using a grill indoors.

  • Larceny was reported on July 16, 2018 at 9:27 a.m. on 100 block of East Franklin Street, according to Chapel Hill Police reports.

The suspect stole a bottle of Barefoot Pinot wine valued at $7.99.

  • Breaking and entering was reported on July 13, 2018 at 6:30 a.m. on the 300 block of St. Thomas Drive, according to Chapel Hill Police reports.

The suspect entered the residence with no force and took a backbag. The bag contained computer software/ hardware, credit/debit cards, a social security card, and a driver's license. All of the items were valued at a total of $3,315.

  • Assault on female and interference with emergency communication were reported on July 13, 2018 at 7:24 p.m. on the 100 block of Barclay Road, according to Chapel Hill Police reports.

The suspect struck the victim and knocked her phone from her hand.

  • Forgery, obtaining money by false pretense and possessing stolen property were reported on the 200 block of South Estes Drive on July 16, 2018 at 3:11 p.m. according to Chapel Hill Police reports.

The suspect cashed stolen/altered checks. The cashed check was worth $5,185.
