There’s a pupper at large in Chapel Hill, and she’s having a pretty ruff week.

According to a press release the Town of Chapel Hill sent on Thursday, the dog is friendly but scared.

“We are aware of a silver and white female husky at large in the vicinity of Lancaster Drive and New Castle Drive (near The Oaks 2 subdivision) in Chapel Hill. We are actively trying to capture this dog but she is proving to be very elusive despite our best efforts," the Town said in a release.

While she is friendly with other dogs, she has previously been aggressive toward other animals.

“People should remain cautious and consider their safety when they see this dog. She does have a history of aggression toward livestock. Therefore, we urge residents to take extra precautions with outdoor cats or any other animals that may be outdoors," the press release said.

Matthew Rush, sales associate at Woof Gang Bakery and Grooming in Chapel Hill, commented on the products that may attract this finicky fido.

“I haven’t had any problems with stray dogs. I'm a sales associate, so I'm not sure if the owners have,” Rush said.

The Town also asked residents to avoid feeding the dog, as food is one of the ways they are trying to lure her home.

"Any other food will only help to thwart our efforts to get her to safety,” the Town said.

Additional food may also affect the dog’s health. She’s not fat, she’s just a little husky.

Anyone who sees the dog or has information is urged to call Animal Control Dispatch at 919-932-4948. For any emergency situation after regular operating hours, please dial 911.
