A Goldsboro principal accused of statutory rape, a sex act with a student and indecent liberties with a student was found dead in Orange County, according to the Goldsboro Police Department.
Richard Knight was the principal at Dillard Academy. The Goldsboro Police Department learned about his relationship with a 12-year-old girl on Nov. 15 and issued an arrest the next day. The police released a statement today that deputies in the Orange County Sheriff's Office found his body in a wooded area on Nov. 16. The cause of death appeared to be a self-inflicted injury.
His body has been sent to the Office of the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy. The investigation into the allegation is still ongoing.
