Tar Heels in the Pros: Bullock, Green, Barnes and Davis highlight performances

Harrison Barnes (40) played two seasons at UNC. He averaged 16.3 points in his UNC career and was drafted seventh overall by the Warriors in 2012.

The UNC men's basketball team had a solid win over N.C. State on Tuesday, but current players in the program aren't the only ones playing well as of late. Four former Tar Heels, Reggie Bullock, Danny Green, Harrison Barnes and Ed Davis, had strong weeks in the NBA:

Reggie Bullock

Reggie Bullock made headlines Tuesday night after being traded from the Detroit Pistons to the Los Angeles Lakers. But he isn't newsworthy just because he'll be joining LeBron James. The 6-foot-7 shooting guard had carved out a regular role in the Piston's starting lineup this season, playing about 30 minutes per game on average.

Just before being traded, Bullock put up solid stats at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks on Tuesday night. In 36 minutes of play, he had 19 points on 7-14 shooting that included 5-10 from beyond the arc. He also had two steals, two assists and seven rebounds. Bullock is on pace to set several career highs in 2019, averaging 12.1 points, 2.5 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game through 44 games. Perhaps Bullock’s most impressive stat thus far has been his 38.8 percent 3-point shooting.

Danny Green

From his first season at North Carolina to his current role on the Toronto Raptors, one thing is for certain: Danny Green is a marksman. With a 39.7 percent career 3-point shooting in the NBA, Green has always been a consistent shooter. But this season, his first with the Raptors, he has had a sensational 41.8 percent mark from three.

Green's shooting from deep has only dipped below 33 percent in two seasons, once his sophomore year at UNC and again his rookie season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Since then, he has had four seasons shooting better than 40 percent — and he's on pace to make 2018-19 his fifth.

Green will be back in North Carolina onFeb. 16 to compete in the All-Star 3-Point Contest during the NBA All-Star Weekend in Charlotte.

Harrison Barnes

Harrison Barnes has been playing well over the last several games for the Dallas Mavericks. In his three most recent contests, the 2010 No. 1 recruit in the country averaged 21 points and 5.3 rebounds per game — with a recent highlight being a 27-point performance against the Pistons.

Now that the Mavericks have traded for Kristaps Porzingis, trade rumors are swirling around Barnes. With the trade deadline on Thursday, the Tar Heel could be on the move soon.

Ed Davis

Coming off the bench this season for the Brooklyn Nets, Davis has averaged 18.3 minutes, 6 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. But on Feb. 2 at the Amway Center in Orlando, Fl., Davis played 21 minutes — scoring 11 points on 4-8 shooting and grabbing 16 rebounds. The stat line was good enough for his fourth double-double of the season.

Over the past six games, Davis has averaged 8.5 points and has shot 61.4 percent from the field in 19 minutes per game. During that stretch, he matched his season high of 17 points.
