The UNC men's basketball team had a solid win over N.C. State on Tuesday, but current players in the program aren't the only ones playing well as of late. Four former Tar Heels, Reggie Bullock, Danny Green, Harrison Barnes and Ed Davis, had strong weeks in the NBA:
Reggie Bullock
Reggie Bullock made headlines Tuesday night after being traded from the Detroit Pistons to the Los Angeles Lakers. But he isn't newsworthy just because he'll be joining LeBron James. The 6-foot-7 shooting guard had carved out a regular role in the Piston's starting lineup this season, playing about 30 minutes per game on average.
Just before being traded, Bullock put up solid stats at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks on Tuesday night. In 36 minutes of play, he had 19 points on 7-14 shooting that included 5-10 from beyond the arc. He also had two steals, two assists and seven rebounds. Bullock is on pace to set several career highs in 2019, averaging 12.1 points, 2.5 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game through 44 games. Perhaps Bullock’s most impressive stat thus far has been his 38.8 percent 3-point shooting.
Danny Green
From his first season at North Carolina to his current role on the Toronto Raptors, one thing is for certain: Danny Green is a marksman. With a 39.7 percent career 3-point shooting in the NBA, Green has always been a consistent shooter. But this season, his first with the Raptors, he has had a sensational 41.8 percent mark from three.
Green's shooting from deep has only dipped below 33 percent in two seasons, once his sophomore year at UNC and again his rookie season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Since then, he has had four seasons shooting better than 40 percent — and he's on pace to make 2018-19 his fifth.
Green will be back in North Carolina onFeb. 16 to compete in the All-Star 3-Point Contest during the NBA All-Star Weekend in Charlotte.
