Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen on East Franklin Street was closed on Friday June 21 due to electrical issues in the morning and a fire in the early afternoon

The Chapel Hill Fire Department responded to a fire at Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen at 1305 E. Franklin St shortly after 1 p.m.

Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen was without power Friday morning following thunderstorms Thursday evening. Smoke was first reported after power was restored. Community Safety Communications Specialist Ran Northam said he did not know if the two events were related.

The fire, which was entirely inside, was under control in 30 minutes, Northam said. He did not know of any injuries from the fire.

One lane of traffic has been reopened on Franklin Street near the location of the fire, Chapel Hill Fire said in a tweet. Drivers are advised to avoid the area.

This is a developing story. Check back here for updates.
