Suspect arrested in Chapel Hill bank robbery case

A suspect robbed the Elliott Road branch of the State Employee's Credit Union on July 5. 

The Chapel Hill Police Department arrested a Durham man following the robberies of two State Employees' Credit Union locations in Chapel Hill in July. 

Alvin Lennon, 61, was arrested on two counts of felony common law robbery, according to the police report.

A suspect robbed the Pittsboro Street SECU Branch on July 2. The Elliott Road branch was robbed on July 5. Police later named Lennon a suspect in the first robbery. 

Lennon is being held at the Orange County Jail under a $16,000 bond. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon.
