Among the many delivery service options in Chapel Hill, one locally owned and operated company soars above to provide the highest quality service with competitive pricing.
“We want our drivers to be saving the day for you,” says Takeout Central owner Wes Garrison.
Takeout Central's commitment to an excellent customer experience is heroic, even without tights or capes.
“Our goal is to deliver convenience, happiness...and food,” Garrison said.
Occasional mistakes can happen with any food order, but Takeout Central offers a unique approach compared to its corporate competitors.
“We have actual humans in our office answering calls who are available to help immediately,” Garrison said.
If there are missing items or other mistakes, one of Takeout Central's “Delivery Heroes” will go back for the correct item right away. In addition, their office staff and delivery drivers know each other, which makes correcting problems faster and easier and the service more consistent and reliable for customers.
As an example, if a restaurant is out of their special-of-the-day, Takeout Central's office staff will call their customers to offer a substitute.
Because Takeout Central is local, customers benefit from the company's close relationships with its restaurant partners. Each restaurant has been vetted so customers don't have to question the quality of the food.
“We know the good restaurants because we eat there; we're their customers too,” said Garrison.
Unlike corporate competitors, Takeout Central has real agreements with every restaurant partner they work with, which is critical to survival in this competitive business. Good working relationships with restaurant staff also help solve problems more efficiently. There's a mutual incentive for Takeout Central and its restaurant partners to provide high quality food made the way the customer requested and served the way the restaurant intended.
Happy customers become repeat customers.
Lacking venture capital, Takeout Central must allocate resources towards technologies that improve efficiency.
“We need technology that takes the burden of processing orders off of our staff so they can focus on customer service,” said Garrison.
The company has developed and patented a printer called the Chit Channel that sends orders to restaurants directly, so staff can prioritize customers.
“With corporate food delivery, customers can get lost in the noise,” said Garrison.
Instead, this local company values its customers and restaurants above all else.
Regarding Takeout Central's company philosophy, Garrison said, “It's the little things that make a difference for our customers. Being able to make someone feel like they actually matter—and mean it.”
Words of a Delivery Hero indeed.
