He’s Not Here, originally called The Village Green, opened its doors to the Chapel Hill community way back in 1972 and has been a UNC icon ever since.
Famous for its unique name and signature Blue Cups, He’s Not is the go-to spot for a drink on any given occasion. And our readers dub it the best bar in Chapel Hill.
Who knows who you might see while you’re there. Many people have met future spouses at the bar. And you might run into UNC athletes, past and present; famous faces who have come to Chapel Hill for a game or a lecture; or musicians who both play live music at He’s Not and grab a Blue Cup before a show at Cat’s Cradle.
He’s Not is also a great event location, playing host to many 21st birthday parties and the last hole of the annual Senior Bar Golf Night.
Oh, and you can’t go wrong with the beer selection. With a fantastic atmosphere, an interesting history and classic beers on tap, He’s Not Here certainly lives up to its nickname of “Chapel Hill’s Legendary Bar.”
