Sutton’s Drug Store has been in Chapel Hill since 1923, serving a wide variety of food including burgers, hot dogs and shakes. A longtime staple, it’s proved a favorite of the UNC community yet again – our readers say Sutton’s is the spot for the best lunch bargain around.
“We’ve always strived to be affordable for everyone, cost-effective for all the students and people that live in the town for years,” manager Don Tinney said.
With the majority of its menu items priced under $7, it’s easy to see why Sutton’s is popular amongst students and local community members alike. Lunch at Sutton’s can include anything from classic burgers and hot dogs to chicken wraps and salads, among other selections. Grab a drink and fries to make it a combo, and the cost is still reasonable.
Put simply, you won’t be short of choice.
And with deli sandwiches like the Dean Dome Deluxe (chicken salad, lettuce, swiss cheese and spicy mustard) and the Franklin Street Ham (ham, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and cream cheese), Sutton’s is clearly a well-ingrained party of the Tar Heel community. Many who stop by Sutton’s for food consider it a part of tradition, according to Tinney. Sutton’s also serves breakfast and dinner.
A dependable, friendly, and delicious establishment, the drug store is well-known throughout the town of Chapel Hill. Next time you’re hungry, stop by Sutton’s for the best lunch bargain around.
