Ring by spring? If popping the question to a partner is in the cards for you, DTH readers say the best place to do that in Chapel Hill is at none other than the Old Well.
Arguably the most notable landmark on UNC’s campus, the Old Well is a Carolina classic, and will remain a romantic hotspot for many Tar Heels to propose in years to come.
When it was built in 1795, the Old Well was relied on by university students for drinking and bathing water. The current structure over the well was designed in 1897 by Euguene Lewis Harris and was based on the Temple of Love at Versailles.
Still a beautiful staple of Chapel Hill, the Old Well is considered a good luck charm and a common gathering spot for students – even when engagements aren’t on their minds.
