The coronavirus pandemic has impacted and disturbed the flow of The Daily Tar Heel newsroom in many ways.
But amid this chaos and uncertainty, the pandemic has revealed an opportunity. An opportunity, that is, to innovate novel ways to better serve our audience members.
It was in this dual-sided context of doubt and inspiration that the DTH University desk's first podcast, "Heel Talk," was born.
We created the show out of a shared desire to reach UNC community members who rely on our coverage to stay informed about campus and Orange County.
Now more than ever, many of our readers feel disconnected, confused and uncertain of how University changes will impact their lives.
As the host, I break down the facts with DTH journalists to analyze the most pressing stories, controversies or investigations of Chapel Hill and Orange County once a week.
Though this show was born amid a crisis, the hope is for it to continue long after the pandemic subsides. Each episode will continue to be packaged into 15 or 20 minutes, so that community members can tune in on their walks to class or commutes to work.
