Class of 2021 shooting guard D’Marco Dunn announced his commitment to the North Carolina men's basketball team on Wednesday via social media.
Dunn, a senior at Westover High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina, is labeled as a four-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite. He is ranked as the No. 79 recruit in his class and the No. 16 shooting guard. He chose the Tar Heels over six other finalists in Vanderbilt, Clemson, Arizona, Louisville, Texas and Georgia.
The 6-foot-4, 180-pound guard averaged 20.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.7 steals during his junior year, according to MaxPreps. He led Westover High School to a 30-0 season last year, and they were on their way to the 3-A state title game before the COVID-19 pandemic ended their season early.
UNC now has the two premier players from the state of North Carolina committed to play for the Tar Heels next season. Dunn joins forward Dontrez Styles, a Kinston, North Carolina, native and the 58th-ranked prospect in the country, as head coach Roy Williams' first two members of the 2021 recruiting class.
